Skytap, Inc., a leading provider of cloud-based IT labs, today announced collaboration with HP to provide cloud testing capabilities that leverage HP's Business Technology Optimization (BTO) solutions. Skytap also announced integration with HP Quality Center and HP LoadRunner software to enable existing customers to more easily leverage the cloud for enterprise software testing.
"More enterprises are turning to cloud computing to reduce business costs and provide greater flexibility and scalability of services throughout the enterprise," said Scott Roza, CEO of Skytap. "Skytap provides a cost-effective, agile solution for testing the functionality and performance of applications using a cloud-based IT lab. Our collaboration with HP provides customers with a best of breed solution for testing that leverages HP's BTO offerings and Skytap's cloud platform."
Skytap's integration with HP LoadRunner supports the dynamic scale out of load generators in the cloud to cost-effectively simulate hundreds or thousands of virtual users, and allows customers to test the performance and scalability of applications and systems before they are deployed. Skytap also announced integration with HP Quality Center to ship in Q3 2009, which enables software teams to set up, manage, and tear down Skytap test lab environments directly from the HP Quality Center interface. This dramatically improves the efficiency of the software testing process and enables software teams to remove lab provisioning bottlenecks by deploying test environments dynamically in the cloud when in-house resources are unavailable.
Through the collaboration, customers and partners can utilize Skytap's cloud-based lab for pre-production testing in combination with the HP Cloud Assure offering, which is an HP Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering designed to help businesses safely and effectively adopt cloud-based services. Customers can now utilize HP Application Security Center and HP Performance Center on SaaS to test applications provisioned in Skytap's cloud-based labs for performance and security before deploying to production. They can also use HP Business Availability Center on SaaS to monitor the applications in production.
"Customers can reduce costs by gaining faster time to value with our SaaS for BTO offerings. These are designed to ensure the quality, performance and availability of cloud services," said Tim Van Ash, director of products for HP Software-as-a-Service, Software & Solutions, HP. "The combination of Skytap and HP gives customers access to a cloud-based IT lab, which enables them to further accelerate their testing cycles and significantly reduce costs."
"MindTree applauds these integrations as they allow us to provide accelerated validation capabilities in the cloud environment," said Subodh Parulekar, co-head - independent testing at MindTree, a Skytap and HP partner. "This significantly reduces complexity for our customers in rolling out reliable, scalable, and secure business applications."
